And today, we are excited to share with you that our CEO, Jesús García Ahumada, has joined the board of AVVA PRO, the Andalusian Association of Short Term Rental and Touristic Apartments Professionals, with the aim of looking after the interests of tourist housing professionals, tourist apartments and rural accommodation; seeking and supporting recognition, the quality and professionalization of the sector.
Last week, and on the occasion of FITUR’s Fair, the International Tourism Trade Fair, the global meeting point for tourism professionals, Jesús García was delighted to accompany the AVVA PRO's President, Carlos Pérez-Lanzac de Lorca, to the presentation of the new edition of Vitur Summit; one of the most important annual conferences in the industry. The NH Málaga hotel will host this year's event, which will take place on the 8 and 9 May 2024. A key annual event for the tourist accommodation and real estate sector at the European level, which aims to analyze the current situation and trends and new developments in tourist accommodation. The meeting will bring together the main european leaders, administrators and institutions in Spain; with high-level presentations, business insights, and networking opportunities.
Finally, we would like to inform you that after months of negotiations between the private sector and the Andalusian Government, last Monday, January 29, the long-awaited new decree on tourist housing was approved. There have been months of negotiations between our association AVVA PRO, represented by the CEA, Andalusian Confederation of Entrepreneurs, the hotel sector and the public Administration. From our point of view, the Council has been able to understand the significant weight of vacation tourism for Andalusia, and although it is true that the approved text is not 100% perfect, historical demands have been achieved such as the recognition of the figure of the manager, an essential actor to professionalize the tourist offer of vacation homes in our region.
