October is the month the sea takes its time. The air has already dropped into the low twenties and the mornings arrive with a bite that September never had, but the water is still holding the heat it stored all summer, and it will keep holding it until well past the middle of the month. For about three weeks you get warm sea and cool air at the same time, which August never gives you.
It is also the month the calendar fills up again after the summer lull. San Pedro Alcántara holds its patron saint’s fair, the film festival takes over a week of screenings, and the last Saturday brings Halloween, which on this coast has turned into one of the busiest nights of the autumn. Weather in Marbella in October
October splits into two halves. Until about the 20th it behaves like a late summer: highs of 23 or 24 °C, long clear afternoons, dinner outdoors without a jacket. After that the first Atlantic fronts start reaching the coast, the light goes flat for a day or two at a time, and the rain arrives in short heavy bursts rather than drizzle.
The number that matters for most visitors is the sea. The Mediterranean here peaks in late August and cools slowly, so it sits at 20 to 21 °C through October, which is warmer than the British sea in August and warmer than the Marbella air at eight in the morning. Swimming is comfortable for most people all month, and the beaches are close to empty on weekdays.
Two local details worth knowing. Sierra Blanca still shelters the town from the north, so Marbella stays a degree or two above the inland villages and noticeably drier than Málaga on a wet week. And the clocks go back on 25 October 2026, which pulls sunset to around six in the evening for the last week of the month. Plan the long walks and the golf for earlier in the day once that happens.

Four days of organised walking starting from the Terraza Plaza del Mar on Calle Camilo José Cela. You choose the distance, 10, 20 or 30 kilometres a day, and how many of the four days you want to walk, so it works for a single easy morning as well as a full week.

Marbepop, Saturday 3 October
Marbella’s open air music festival, held at the Parque de la Represa on Calle Atarazanas, with free entry. The 2026 bill mixes national and local names: Malmö 040, La Leshe Que Mamate & Poorhouse Rockers, Las Dianas, Skabum, Hako/Klimax/Hizox, Aigy and Ñeco.

Todo Danza festival, 3 to 6 October
The dance festival in Marbella, at the Teatro Ciudad de Marbella, running in 2026 under the theme “Poéticas del cuerpo”, with performances at different times across several stages. The box office opens Wednesday and Thursday from 17:00 to 20:00, Friday and Saturday from 11:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 20:00, and two hours before curtain on Sundays and holidays.
Marbella International Film Festival, 7 to 12 October
The twenty first edition of the Marbella International film festival, with red carpet screenings, industry sessions and workshops on writing, funding and distribution. Passes and individual tickets are sold to the public, so it is open to visitors rather than industry only.
Feria y Fiestas de San Pedro Alcántara, 13 to 19 October
The biggest week of the month, and the one most visitors miss because it happens in San Pedro rather than Marbella town. It runs at the Recinto Ferial La Caridad on Calle Torrente Ballester, entry free, with casetas, live music, funfair rides, food stalls and events for all ages, and it closes on the 19th with the patron saint’s day. San Pedro is ten minutes from Puerto Banús, so it is an easy evening out from the marina. Halloween, Saturday 31 October
At the end of the month, Halloween in Marbella is celebrated with a blend of glamour, creativity, and a festive atmosphere. The city offers options for all audiences — from family-friendly events to exclusive galas at the most iconic clubs and hotels.
Marbella Town Hall organises children’s activities in various parts of the city, including workshops, parades, and games for the little ones.

Swim while the sea is still warm

Walk the old town in the good light

Play the best golf month of the year
With the courses recovered from the summer and the temperature right for eighteen holes at any hour, October is the peak of the autumn season. Most of the good courses sit in one valley for golf in Marbella, behind Puerto Banús.
Climb La Concha now the heat has broken

Practical tips for visiting Marbella in October
- Book two to three weeks ahead, and earlier for the San Pedro fair week of the 13th to the 19th, when local demand spikes.
- Keep the sun cream. A clear October afternoon at this latitude still burns.
- Remember the clocks. They go back on 25 October 2026 and sunset moves to about six. The last week of the month is noticeably shorter.
- Pack for two climates. Beach at midday and a jacket by nine in the evening is the normal October day.
- Check seasonal opening the same day. Beach clubs, water parks and some chiringuitos wind down through the month on their own calendars, while museums, golf, the old town and restaurants run normally.
- Hire a car if you plan to leave the coast. The fair, the white villages and the mountains are all short drives, and rates have dropped from the summer peak.
